Hot Maple Apple Cider



6 cups apple cider

1/4 cup pure maple syrup

1 orange peel, cut into strips

1 lemon peel, cut into strips

2 cinnamon sticks

6 whole cloves

6 whole allspice berries

Spice bag




Pour cider and syrup into a large pot. Place peels and spices in center of a spice bag and tie with a piece of string. Drop spice bungle into liquid and heat over medium heat for about 10 minutes. Remove spice bag and discard. Ladle maple cider into mugs and serve warm.

Optional idea: Garnish the mug of cider with a stick of cinnamon for stirring, and top with whipped cream or a thin slice of lemon or orange.
