3 Easy Daily Exercises to Kick-Start New Year

As 2022 draws to a close, everyone naturally begins to think about what 2023 could bring. It also sees people making resolutions for the coming 12 months and looking at ways they can improve their lives in line with their goals. One common choice many people make is the decision to embark on a daily exercise routine to become healthier.

The great thing about exercise in the modern age is the sheer range of choices it offers. You could for example choose to hit the gym or work out at home each day to get 2023 off to a positive start. In addition, the latest trends in virtual exercise show that working out online each day is a viable option for many. Whether you go for VR-based exercise or join a streamed online class, this is an exciting new development in fitness.

If you plan on drawing up your own schedule, it is key to not only stick to a regular daily routine but also include easy exercises to perform. This will enable you to perform the moves easily and enable you to see better results in 2023.

But which simple daily exercises are good to start off with?

1. Sun salutation

Yoga has been around for thousands of years, and there are many different forms and practices. One of the best things about yoga is that it aims to focus and strengthen your mind as well as your body, making it the perfect way to start the day.

Sun salutation is a core part of many types of yoga, and can easily be done at home. It’s very gentle, so it’s suitable for all abilities, and offers a low impact exercise that will strengthen your body as well as help with flexibility. All you need is a yoga mat, and a quiet space.

2. Planks

Another simple exercise to try each day in 2023 is the plank. A classic for a reason, it strengthens and tones your body. To do this move, you should:

  • Position your elbows underneath your chest whilst lying on the floor face-down
  • Extend your legs behind you
  • Raise yourself up on your elbows and tiptoes

Start off by holding it for a few seconds and then gradually increasing this time as you get more used to it. If you want to make it even harder, you can also lift one arm or leg off the floor, but this should only be attempted if you are comfortable with the original position.

3. Push-ups

The humble push-up has been a staple of many people’s daily workouts for years. This is easy to understand when you think that the benefits of daily push-ups include stronger shoulders, toned arms, and a sculpted upper body.

To do a push-up, you should:

  • Start off face down with your hand a shoulder-width apart and your legs extended behind you
  • Lower yourself down with a straight body until your chest almost touches the floor
  • Push yourself back up to the starting position
